I am a graduate student and freelance musician living in Los Angeles, California. As a student, I’m always on the lookout for ways to make a little extra money, as well as inexpensive ways to have fun. This site’s purpose is to chronicle what I learn as I explore some unorthodox money-making ideas, and to describe some of the gadgets and activities that make my life more interesting.

Here is a little more about me:

• I play classical French horn, and am studying music at the graduate level. My career ambition is to play in a professional orchestra. I also freelance locally when opportunities come my way.
• I am an avid reader, mostly of fiction in a variety of genres. Each week, I post a new book review on my other site: Jon’s Book Reviews. My current favorite books include Cold Mountain, by Charles Frazier and Giving, by Bill Clinton. I’m also partial to Lawrence Block’s Bernie Rhodenbarr series.
• My favorite movies include all three Lord of the Rings, Waking Ned Devine, Secondhand Lions, and A Prairie Home Companion.
• When I’m not working or studying, I enjoy swimming, cycling, jujitsu, visiting museums, and spending time with my wife.
